About FULLSTEPUP

FULLSTEPUP is a music enhancement program dedicated to helping young people discover the educational, creative, and personal benefits of music.

Our program works to provide students with access to musical instruments and instruction, while encouraging academic responsibility and personal growth. FULLSTEPUP believes that access to music can provide young people with confidence, focus, creativity, discipline, and a meaningful way to connect with others.

As we grow, we are seeking a Grant Writer to help identify funding opportunities and develop compelling grant applications that support our mission and programs.

Position Overview

The Grant Writer will research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities that align with FULLSTEPUP’s mission, programs, and funding needs.

This position is an important part of helping FULLSTEPUP develop sustainable funding so we can expand access to instruments, lessons, scholarships, educational opportunities, and related music enrichment activities for students.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and researcher who understands nonprofit funding, can tell a compelling story, and is passionate about helping young people gain access to music.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research local, regional, state, and national grant opportunities.
  • Identify foundations, corporations, government programs, and other funding sources that align with FULLSTEPUP’s mission.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant opportunities, deadlines, and application requirements.
  • Review grant guidelines and determine whether opportunities are appropriate for FULLSTEPUP.
  • Develop and write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials.
  • Work with FULLSTEPUP leadership to gather program information, budgets, statistics, stories, and other materials required for applications.
  • Help develop compelling narratives that communicate the impact and potential of FULLSTEPUP.
  • Assist with grant budgets and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of applications, submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with grant follow-up, thank-you correspondence, and reporting.
  • Help identify opportunities for recurring and multi-year funding.
  • Stay informed about nonprofit funding trends and opportunities related to music education, youth development, education, and the arts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to write clearly, persuasively, and professionally.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with FULLSTEPUP leadership.
  • Genuine interest in FULLSTEPUP’s mission and the role music can play in a young person’s development.

Preferred:

  • Previous grant-writing experience.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with foundation, corporate, government, or arts-related grants.
  • Experience researching funding databases and grant opportunities.
  • Experience developing nonprofit proposals, budgets, or program narratives.

Grant-writing experience is highly valued, but FULLSTEPUP is also open to someone with strong writing, research, organizational, and communication skills who is interested in developing their grant-writing experience.

Time Commitment

The time commitment can be flexible and will be established based on the candidate’s availability and FULLSTEPUP’s current grant opportunities.

This position may begin as a volunteer role, with the potential for a paid or expanded role as FULLSTEPUP’s funding and organizational capacity develop.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Reports To: FULLSTEPUP Board Director

NOTE: At this time, this is a volunteer position with a potential to establish a 2-year contract as we grow.

FULLSTEPUP is a music enhancement program dedicated to helping young people discover the educational, creative, and person al benefits of music.

Our mission is to help provide students with access to musical instruments and instruction while encouraging academic responsibility, personal growth, creativity, confidence, and connection through music.

As FULLSTEPUP grows, we are looking for a Social Media Manager to help us tell our story, build awareness, engage our community, and connect with people and organizations that believe in our mission.

Position Overview

The Social Media Manager will help develop and manage FULLSTEPUP’s social media presence across appropriate platforms.

This person will be responsible for creating and sharing engaging content that communicates who FULLSTEPUP is, what we do, why music matters, and how individuals, musicians, businesses, organizations, and donors can help.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, comfortable with social media, and able to turn FULLSTEPUP’s activities, stories, partnerships, events, and successes into compelling content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a consistent FULLSTEPUP social media presence.
  • Create, schedule, and publish posts across appropriate social media platforms.
  • Develop content that communicates FULLSTEPUP’s mission, programs, and impact.
  • Promote fundraising campaigns, donation drives, events, scholarships, and other FULLSTEPUP activities.
  • Help promote the Darin Hackbarth Instrument Drive and future instrument and gear donation campaigns.
  • Highlight supportive organizations, community partners, musicians, educators, donors, and volunteers.
  • Create engaging graphics, captions, short-form videos, and other social content.
  • Help tell the stories behind donated instruments and the people who make FULLSTEPUP possible.
  • Share appropriate student and program success stories while respecting privacy and organizational guidelines.
  • Encourage community interaction, sharing, and engagement.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and general audience engagement.
  • Track basic social media analytics and identify content that performs well.
  • Help develop campaigns designed to increase awareness, donations, volunteer participation, and community involvement.
  • Maintain a consistent voice and visual identity for FULLSTEPUP.
  • Coordinate with FULLSTEPUP leadership on upcoming announcements, campaigns, events, and partnerships.
  • Stay aware of current social media trends and identify opportunities that may benefit FULLSTEPUP.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to communicate professionally on behalf of an organization.
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Genuine interest in FULLSTEPUP’s mission.

Preferred:

  • Previous social media management experience.
  • Experience creating graphics or short-form video.
  • Experience with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or LinkedIn.
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools.
  • Experience with nonprofit, community, education, arts, or music organizations.
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and audience engagement.

Professional nonprofit or social media experience is helpful, but FULLSTEPUP is open to someone with strong creativity, communication skills, and enthusiasm who wants to build experience while contributing to a meaningful mission.

Content & Privacy

Because FULLSTEPUP works with young people, the Social Media Manager must understand the importance of protecting student privacy.

No student photographs, names, personal information, stories, or other identifying information may be published without appropriate authorization and approval from FULLSTEPUP.

All content representing FULLSTEPUP must be consistent with the organization’s policies, values, and mission.

Time Commitment

The time commitment is flexible and will be established based on the candidate’s availability and FULLSTEPUP’s current needs.

The position may begin as a volunteer opportunity, with the potential for a paid or expanded role as FULLSTEPUP’s funding and organizational capacity develop.
