PARTICIPANTS

Participant Requirements

To ensure that FULLSTEPUP resources are used effectively and reach those who will benefit most, the following requirements have been established for individuals and families interested in participating in the program.

Age Eligibility

  • Participants should typically be between 8 and 18 years old
  • Exceptions may be considered based on program availability and need

Demonstrated Interest in Music

  • Applicants must show a genuine interest in learning music
  • No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn and practice is essential

Financial Need (Priority Consideration)

  • Priority is given to students and families who lack access to instruments due to financial limitations
  • Basic information may be requested to assess need (kept confidential)

Commitment to Participation

Participants must agree to:

  • Attend scheduled lessons, workshops, or program activities (if applicable)
  • Practice regularly and take care of provided instruments
  • Communicate with program leaders if attendance issues arise

Instrument Care Responsibility

If receiving a loaned instrument:

  • Participants must maintain and care for the instrument properly
  • Instruments must be returned in good condition (normal wear expected)
  • A signed instrument use agreement may be required

Parent/Guardian Involvement (For Minors)

  • A parent or guardian must:
    • Complete registration and consent forms
    • Support the student’s participation and commitment
    • Serve as a point of contact for communication

Respectful Conduct

Participants are expected to:

  • Show respect to instructors, volunteers, and peers
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment
  • Follow all program guidelines and policies

Attendance & Accountability

  • Repeated absences without communication may result in:
    • Reassignment of program resources
    • Removal from the program (if necessary)

Community Engagement (Encouraged)

  • Participants may be invited (but not required) to:
    • Perform at events
    • Participate in community showcases
    • Share their progress and experiences

Application & Approval Process

  • All participants must:
    • Complete a FULLSTEPUP application form
    • Be reviewed and approved based on program capacity and alignment with mission
